KUCHING: Former national prolific midfielder Joseph Kalang Tie yesterday confirmed his decision to join Kuching FA team and compete in the third tier Malaysian League.
Joseph, 32, signed the contract before Kuching Division Football Association president Fazruddin Abdul Rahman yesterday morning.
It ended the riddles on the senior player’s position, after he declined to reveal which team he would be joining.
Two months ago, Joseph said he wanted to stay in Sarawak, to focus and spend more time with his family, especially his son, Kendrick Lian Joseph.
Joseph had previously tied a knot with Rebekah Livan Balan on Nov 16, 2014.
For Fazruddin, Joseph’s participation will reinforce the City of Unity team, which already have several Ngap Sayot’s players from last season such as Hairol Mokhtar and Dzulazlan Ibrahim.
“I hope he can accept our family culture in Kuching FA,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kuching FA were the inaugural People’s Football League champions in 2016.
Joseph pledged to give more than 200 percent of his commitment to the team.
“I’ve been following the team for a long time before making a decision on this season,” he added.
He said he would share his experiences in the Super League’s top teams such as Terengganu FC, Pahang and Selangor with the young players in the team. – BY RUDI AFFENDI KHALIK
