Kapit police join in Anti Corruption Pledge, too

KAPIT: The police here yesterday took their oath and signed the ‘Anti Corruption Pledge’ during a ‘Majlis Ikrar Bebas Rasuah PDRM held at the Kapit District Police Headquarters here witnessed by two Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) officers, Dzulkarnain Rousan and Mohamad Nazif.

The ceremony was led by Kapit Police chief, DSP Freddy Bian.

Also present were senior police officers including CID

Officer, ASP Markaranu Beddu, Special Branch Officer, ASP Chua Su Hua, Narcotic Officer, ASP Jawie Hamata and Traffic and Public Order Officer, ASP Fauzan Kassim.

Freddy in his speech disclosed that the police is the first agency under the Home Ministry to sign the ‘Corruption Free Pledge’ throughout the country yesterday.

“This ‘Anti Corruption Pledge’ was initiated in January 2017. All police personnel were required to take the oath and sign the pledge. The objective of the pledge is for police personnel to stay away from malpractices and corruption. Every police personnel must uphold the highest level of discipline and responsibility when discharging duty. Police personnel must have the integrity to stay away from malpractices.

“Corrupt practices must be culled to ensure the work place is free from corruption. Police personnel need to display high level of professionalism and integrity. Today it is the signing of ‘Anti Corruption Pledge’ and oath taking which will be followed by the holding of courses and workshops before an offender is punished,” Freddy said, adding that the police is the leading agency to maintain peace, order and security in the country.

He also told his men to take the pledge seriously because just one or two ‘rotten apples’ in the force can bring the image of the police down.

An MACC officer Dzulkarnain Rousan also spoke at the event.
