MIRI: Members of the Doh Kayan (Kayan Women) Telang Usan (DKTU) association have been urged to use the association’s platform to strengthen both the social and economic aspects of their community, and to lead the development of a new and better future.

According to Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau, the association members must assert themselves and use the platform to move forward with fresh thinking and innovation.

“To forge a new inclusive future, we must equip and enable Orang Ulu, particularly Kayan women from all walks of life, to engage and focus on how to better improve our lives,” he said.

Dennis also encouraged the members of DKTU to utilise the association to obtain information about business opportunities and promote the products they are selling. “We must be able to diversify our abilities and skills,” he said to the 250 members who attended the meeting.

These ideas were disclosed by him at the opening of DKTU’s Triennial Meeting on Saturday at a leading hotel. Formed in 2016, the association aims to help develop and strengthen the power of Kayan women in various fields. The association is led by its president Temenggong Elizabeth Ding, which has more than 500 registered members.
