King, Queen return home this afternoon

KUCHING: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah will return to Kuala Lumpur this afternoon (Sept 13) after completing their ‘Kembara Kenali Borneo’ expedition. 

Their Majesties including their children Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, Tengku Ahmad Ismail Mu’adznam Shah and Tengku Amir Nasser Ibrahim Tengku Arif Bendahara Ibrahim are scheduled to depart Kuching for Kuala Lumpur at 4pm. 

Meanwhile, preparations for the Royal family’s departure proceeded smoothly, with a comprehensive rehearsal held at the VVIP Terminal of Kuching International Airport (KIA) on Tuesday (September 12).

The Royal couple and their entourage are expected to arrive at KIA at 3pm after making their final stop of the Kembara Kenali Borneo tour in Telok Melano early in the morning. 

Acting Head of State, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan and their wives will be at the airport to bid their Majesties farewell.

The 11-day Kembara Kenali Borneo tour commenced on Sept 3 in Tawau, Sabah and ends in Telok Melano covering a total distance of 2,154km along the Pan Borneo Highway, connecting Sabah, Sarawak and Brunei.
