KUCHING: Kuching FA continue as leaders of the M3 League after snatching a slim 1-0 win over Puchong Fuezra at the Sarawak Stadium on Saturday’s night. Sufizal Ismail was the hero of the night when he scored the winning goal in the 57th minute.

Kuching FA could have won with a bigger score margin but three clear chances failed to find the net.

The homesters scored the first goal in the early 29th minute but it was disallowed as one of Kuching FA players was caught off-side.

Two other attempts from Joseph Kalang Tee in the 43rd minute and Ismail Bujang in 47th minute hit the post. The match was disrupted in the 69th minute due to rough play and a fight ensued between Sarawak’s Mohammad Dzulazan and Puchong’s Muhammad Asnan Awal Hisham, both of whom were given the marching order by the referee.

Kuching FA chief coach Ideris Untong said he was happy that his team collected the maximum points but not satisfied with the team’s performance as well as some of the decisions meted by the referee. “My players were losing their focus and affected their
performance.

“In the second half, we tried to change the way we attack but still it didn’t work, plus some of the bad decisions by the referee, which disturbed our players’ focus and also caused unhappiness among the players,” said Ideris.
He said he will work on improving the players’ mental strength.

“Overall, I am happy that we managed to collect the three points which are very valuable to us to keep our unbeaten record and the top spot in the league,” he said.

Ideris thanked the supporters who came to cheer the team on at the Sarawak Stadium Saturday’s night. He hoped they will continue to give the team their moral support.

Kuching FA are top of the league with 38 points from 14 matches while Kelantan United were
second with 35 points but with one more match to play.
