Kuching turns red again

Date:

KUCHING: The district of Kuching was declared a red zone – again, today.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said this followed 43 Covid-19 positive cases recorded in the district within the last 14 days.

“Samarahan, Julau, Subis, Beluru, Kapit, Song, Dalat, Bintulu, Kanowit, Miri and Sibu remained as red zones with a total of 2,161 locally transmitted cases recorded in the eleven districts within the past 14 days.

“Lundu and Sri Aman remain as orange zones with 60 locally transmitted cases reported in the two districts,” it said.

SDMC also said that fourteen districts remained yellow with 93 locally transmitted cases recorded. These are Bau, Matu, Selangau, Betong, Saratok, Sarikei, Sebauh, Lawas, Bukit Mabong, Tatau, Pakan, Serian, Belaga and Meradong.

The green districts are Daro, Simunjan, Lubok Antu, Telang Usan, Asajaya, Limbang, Tanjung Manis, Tebedu, Mukah, Pusa, Kabong and Marudi.

Meanwhile, SDMC said there were 111 recovered cases and allowed to be discharged from hospitals in the state today.

Forty-five cases were from Miri Hospital, Sibu Hospital (44), low risk Covid-19 quarantine and treatment centre (PKCR) under Kapit Hospital (12), Sarawak General Hospital (eight), and one each from Bintulu Hospital and Sarikei Hospital.

“This brings the total number of positive Covid-19 cases that has recovered and allowed to be discharged to 5,204 persons or 72.03 percent of the total cases in Sarawak,” it added.
