BAU: Two new primary schools here will not long from now replace the existing ones which are in a state of disrepair.

Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said SK Grogo which was now about 70 per cent complete was slated for completion on July 20 this year.

As for SK Suba Buan a new building will be built by April next year, he said  during a press conference here after he visited the sites on Tuesday (Feb 8).

“SK Suba Buan which will be built at a cost of RM24.654 million will have 18 classrooms and one pre-school. We are targeting to accommodate 450 students at a time,” he said.

But Henry expressed concern over the school being located along a narrow stretch that passes through two villages.

He said the Public Works Department (PWD) would therefore be constructing an access road from Jalan Wind Cave to the school area to avoid any traffic congestion that will trouble parents sending their children to school as well as villagers who need to go to work.

“This access road will be more conducive for the rakyat here … we are expecting that by the time the school reaches its completion next year, the alternative road will be accessible to the people here,” he added.

Meanwhile he said there would be 12 classrooms in SK Grogo for which an allocation of over RM5.9 million had been given .

“Once the schools reach their completion, the old schools will be used as whatever the villagers have planned – homestay or a place for the villagers to hold activities.

“I leave it to the villagers and the school committees to decide as it is the villagers’ land. It is better that the old schools are used as something else rather than being abandoned,” he added.
