BETONG: Residents of two separate longhouses near Ulu Layar have received cautionary advisories following landslides that occurred behind the residences on Tuesday (Oct 24).

Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the 15 affected residents in the 3pm incident.

The landslides affected a private house at Rumah Sanda near Jambu Kerampak, as well as four doors (bilik) of the 30-door Rumah Adal, near Nanga Tiga.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from the Betong station were promptly dispatched to the scene after receiving two distress calls.

Upon arrival, the team found that the landslide at Rumah Sanda took place behind the house, with no reported structural damage.

Meanwhile, the landslide at Rumah Adal also occurred behind the longhouse, causing damage to the kitchen walls and roof.

The team only observed the situation and advised the residents to steer clear of the affected areas and exercise caution, particularly during heavy rainfall.
