SIBU: A local man was detained by marine police for allegedly transporting 16,000 litres of diesel without permit from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN).
Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said the arrest under ‘Ops Taring Kontraban’ was made around 10 am yesterday along Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce.
The team pulled over a tanker truck driven by the suspect for inspection.
The 36-year-old suspect failed to produce any documents to possess, store or carry controlled items or obtained permission from KPDN.
“It led to the discovery of 16,000 litres of diesel in the tanker. The estimated value of the seizure is around RM231,200,” he said.
The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
The suspect and the seized truck have been handed over to KPDN Sibu for further action.
