KUCHING: Local lass Datin Natasha Charmaine, the main actress for the film ‘Imam’, which features experienced and well-known actors and actresses Datuk M. Nasir, Faizal Hussein, and Vanidah Imran, held a meet-and-greet session yesterday (March 4).

Natasha started off in the entertainment industry by hosting Bintang Kecil 2010, and she is currently in her twelfth year of involvement in the entertainment industry.

She credited her rise to fame to her hard work but reaffirmed that she has plenty to learn and needs to expose herself more in the film industry.

“Although it’s been around for 10 years, obviously it is important to make sure to do things the right way.

“Better to do things slowly than do things in a negative way,” she told reporters during the meet-and-greet session at GSC Cinemas in CityOne Megamall.

She also encouraged young, inspiring artists and actresses alike to continue making content and creating creative topics that are useful and valuable.

“Explore, travel, and find good things to look out for, such as fashion, food, and styling,” she said.

The 31-year-old features as Siti Nur Aisyah, the wife of Haji Mihad (M. Nasir), in the film, which centres around him as he returns to his village after ten years away with radical ideas for change, but the villagers are skeptical. Haji Mihad is ordained as an imam and clashes with the other local imam.

The film, directed by Mior Hashim Manap, is 104 minutes long and is based on a novel written by Abdullah Hussain.

Imam will be aired in cinemas in Kuching, Miri, Bintulu, Singapore, and Brunei. This is also Natasha’s second film; her first film, Janet: Sumpah Terlarang, was aired on Astro First only.

Meanwhile, when asked about her decision to remove her 30,000 followers on Instagram because of the film ‘Imam,’ she said that she wants to start afresh and influence her fans in a much better way.

“It’s not that I’m scared to lose fans; I remove my followers, which are not many, around 30,000.

“At one point, I didn’t know who my followers were; we didn’t know what some people may be talking about; and people could do anything with the pictures I posted online). I’m just being careful,” she said.
