Lorry laden with eggs catches fire

MIRI: Thousands of boxes of eggs were destroyed when a 10-tonne stationary lorry caught fire yesterday morning at Mile 7 1/2 Jalan Miri-Bintulu road.

According to Miri Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Zone 6 chief Supt Law Poh Kiong, the back portion of the egg-laden lorry was destroyed in the 10.25am incident.

Fortunately, no one was injured.

“Nine firemen from Lopeng fire station were deployed to the scene upon receiving the distressed call on the incident,” said Law.

The operation ended at 11.04am and investigations were underway as to actual cause of the fire.
