KUCHING: Will Lubok Antu MP Jugah Muyang be accepted to rejoin Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS)?

Jugah on July 13 had told a local daily here that he had the blessing of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to join PRS.

But according to sources, some PRS Supreme Council members did not want to see Jugah rejoining the party.

“This is due to his past history with PRS,” a source told New Sarawak Tribune when contacted.

On July 14, PRS deputy information chief Andy Lawrence — in response to Jugah’s earlier remarks — said that Jugah’s application was “still being kept in view, pending the decision of the Supreme Council.”

“The decision needs to be unanimously agreed by the Supreme Council members,” he added.

He said the Supreme Council would convene soon to discuss this and several matters. “Family matters will always be discussed among family members. We are capable of making our own decisions.”

In the 14th General Election, Jugah contested as an independent candidate and won the Lubok Antu seat with a majority of 1,059 votes.

He then joined Parti Keadilan Rakyat in May, 2018 but left in June, 2020.
