KUCHING: Lunar New Year is just around the corner, MagnumCares, the CSR team from Magnum Group has officially kick started their 2019 activities with the annual Welfare Homes Outreach Programme.
ENE (East Malaysia) Sdn Bhd regional manager Liew Kee Chuan said for 34 years MagnumCares has continuously carried out the tradition of distributing Chinese New Year ang pows as well as providing assistance to the various charity and welfare homes across the country during the Lunar Year season.
He said this year, starting from Jan 14, MagnumCares visited 227 charity and welfare homes to distribute Chinese New Year ang pows to the residents.
Thirty seven of these charity organisations and homes are in Sarawak – 24 in Kuching, four in Miri, three each in Sri Aman and Sibu, two in Bintulu and one in Sarikei. Together these charity organisations received a total of RM110,000.
According to Liew, nationwide MagnumCares will be spending a total of RM651,300 in ang pows as well as other festive gifts to more than 13,704 people from the under-served communities.
He said apart from distributing ang pows and CNY gifts, MagnumCares has also under taken home improvements for selected families.
“Seeing the happiness and joy that we can bring to the beneficiaries of our programme, and to make or effort more meaningful, we strive to share and care for everyone in our community.
“Magnum believes in championing the cause of the underprivileged through the various sustainable and charitable programmes that are under the umbrella of MagnumCares,” he added.
