Make-up artist lives out beauty dream

KUCHING: Angelinatasia Geranang who has been interested in the beauty industry since she was a child is now living her dreams.

This is because the 24-year-old make-up artist is offering various beauty services while running her family business at the same time.

She also offers make-up for her customers such as those who need a touch-up for dinner, events, and so on.

“I started providing beauty services after I helped my mother to run her bridal business (Nora Tony Bridal).

“I was 17 when I helped my mother to run her business. From there I learnt a lot from her about the beauty industry,” she told New Sarawak Tribune.

According to her, she has also participated in several make-up competitions from 2015 to increase her knowledge and enhance her make-up skills.

“It has helped me to some extent to improve on weaknesses in the service I deliver,” she said.

She said that for the dinner make-up package, she would charge RM120 while the fee for for engagement and wedding make-up including hairdo is RM 450.

She said that she has received an overwhelming response including bookings from as far as Sabah, Kuala Lumpur ad Johor Bahru.

“As we know, we were hit by the COVID-19 pandemic the last two years, our business was greatly affected, we had to close temporarily and could not operate.

“But now as things are slowly getting back to normal, it is hoped the business will bounce back,” she said.

Dedicated to her job full time, Angelinatasia said she priorities the quality of her work. most importantly making customers look their best.

“The challenge as make-up artists is not easy as we know make-up tools are not cheap,” she said, adding, “we have to increase the price of make-up to cover our expenses.”

To earn extra income, she said she and her mother also provide eyebrow embroidery and eyelash extension services.

The bridal business, she said is managed by her mother Nora, herself and her sister, Bella.

“This bridal business operates from Monday to Saturday, from 10am to 7pm. If there is a reservation on Sunday, we also open our shop,” she said, adding the bridal shop is located in Kota Samarahan.

The business routine is such that customers would visit the shop to try on wedding dresses, and take wedding photos, while some would just pop in to have make-up before attending dinners or events.

“I nearly wanted to look for other jobs but I believe God has a better plan for me.

“The one who gives me the motivation to continue in this business is my mother because she wants her bridal boutique to be continued by the next generation.

“May our business continue to prosper in the future,” she said.
