KUCHING: Financially-strapped national news portal MalaysiaNow has ceased its operation with effect from Oct 10.

This was based on the account of its former writer Ahmad Mustakim Zulkifli on the news portal which was last updated on Friday (Oct 6).

Ahmad’s post on LinkedIn states: “My company decided to terminate all staff (16 employees) due to financial problems.

“We received our termination letter last week (Oct 6) stating that Oct 10 is the official termination date.”

The Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has blocked the website due to it’s reporting.

Ahmad said this has forced him to give up reporting the truth, calling it ‘nonsense’ adding that “nobody likes the truth especially the people in Putrajaya”.
