Man held for stealing auto parts

MIRI: A local man aged 36 was arrested on Saturday afternoon for allegedly stealing car’s parts and accessories including the steering wheel worth RM300 from a parked vehicle at Jalan Sarikei, Taman Tunku.

He was caught at 1.54pm at a house in Taman Tunku following a report lodged by a 42-year-old complainant on the incident.

According to the report lodged by the complainant, the incident was discovered on Friday morning by his neighbour who spotted something amiss with the car concerned.

In the report, the complainant said the car belonged to his uncle who had left it with him as the uncle was going to village in Long Panai.

Upon inspection it was found out that several of the vehicle’s components including the audio accessories were missing.

The weather stripping on the car windows were also damaged.

Meanwhile, Miri Police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari had confirmed the arrest.

The case is being investigated under Section 379A (2) of the Penal Code for theft of vehicle parts.
