Man in custody in connection with Daro killings

DARO: Police have arrested a man on suspicion of being involved in a murder involving two Indonesian women, who were found dead in Sungai Samong separately on Feb 12 and 14.

Meanwhile, another Indonesian woman, who survived the brutal killings, is reported to be in stable condition.

Matu-Daro OCPD DSP Neil Beginda said police arrested the 31-year-old suspect around 3.30pm along Jalan Sentral Daro on Saturday (Feb 12).

“We are actively investigating the case, which is believed to have taken place at RC Dermaga, Sungai Samong on Feb 12.

“The case involved three Indonesian women aged between 41 and 47. Two of the victims are believed to have been beaten and then killed at separate locations before they were dumped into the river,” he said without disclosing the cause for the killings.

DSP Neil pointed out that the body of the first victim was found floating on the day of the alleged incident while  the second body was found two days later.

The third victim, believed to be a friend of the deceased, was found alive along Jalan Tebaan near the scene, on the day of the first body’s discovery.

The suspect is being remanded until Feb 20 for further investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
