KUCHING: Police arrested a man and a teenager for engaging in online gambling activities at separate locations on Saturday (July 10).

Among the items seized from the suspect in Siniawan.

The first arrest involved a 33-year-old man at a grocery store in Kampung Kopit, Siniawan, Bau.

Bau police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team raided the premises around 5.30pm in an operation codenamed ‘Ops Dadu’.

“The police team seized a phone, sim card, some cash and a piece of paper with numbers written on it.

“The man together with the seized items were brought to Bau police station for further action,” he said.

The suspect who did not have any past record, will be investigated under Section 4A(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.

Meanwhile, Padawan police arrested a female teenager who worked as an online gambling agent in a premises at Mile 6, Jalan Matang.

The 17-year-old suspect along with a phone and cash amounting to RM125, were brought to the police station for investigations.
