SIBU: Police have arrested a man for possessing RM4,785 worth of drugs during a raid at a workshop at Jalan Lanang here yesterday.
Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the raid was carried out by a team of personnel of the Narcotic Criminal Investigations Division at 12.30pm.
He said that the 41-year-old-man, suspected of being involved in substance abuse, was arrested during the surprise raid.
“During the raid, the team found a black plastic bag with a newspaper wrapping in it and two transparent plastic packets containing crystalline powder suspected to be methamphetamine with an estimated weight of 31.90g.
“The drugs were found hidden under a red grill bar near the store, next to where the suspect was detained,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Stanley added that the suspect and seized items were taken to Sungai Merah police station for further action.
The case is being investigated under Section 39A (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
