“A team of marine police managed to stop a cargo vessel for inspection and it led to the finding of RM80,000 worth of diesel.
“Subsequently, a 37-year-old local skipper was also arrested as he failed to provide any valid documents from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs on the ownership of the diesel,” he said.
Meanwhile, the second operation codenamed ‘Ops Pensura’ was carried out around 3.20pm at Pulau Keladi, Batang Rajang where, the team found a pile of logs been tied onto a raft.
Zulkipli pointed out that several boats left the logs after they noticed a marine police boat approaching the area.
“The logs worth around RM200,000, were believed to have been acquired illegally as there were no markings by the Sarawak Forest Department,” he said.
