Marine police seize RM50k worth of contraband

MIRI: More than RM50,000 worth of smuggled cigarettes and liquor were seized by Miri marine police on Wednesday night.
The items were seized in an operation dubbed as “Ops Landai”.

According to sources, the raid was held following a tip-off received by the force earlier on, that the items were spotted and being left a section at Tudan Terminal bus.

Acting on the information received, a team of Miri marine police rushed to the scene and conducted an investigation.
Upon their arrival, they found the contrabands left unattended.

It was learnt that they have waited for several hours for the “owner” of the items to collect the items but no one showed up.
The contrabands were later seized and brought over to Lutong police station.

Miri police chief, ACP Lim Meng Seah when contacted yesterday confirmed receiving the report on the raid.
