MATTA eyes RM3m in travel fair sales

KUCHING: Organisers of the 17th Sarawak MATTA Travel Fair 2023 are hoping to achieve a sales volume of RM3 million during the event which will be held in Kuching and Miri simultaneously.

Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Sarawak chairman Oscar Choo said visitors to the fair will have the opportunity to buy from a variety of value-for-money domestic and international holiday packages.

These will be available from a wide range of experienced licensed tour operators and also Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) tickets through its appointed agents, he said.

At a press conference on Monday he announced that the Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) of Malaysia Airlines, Firefly and MASWings has been appointed as the official airline for the travel fair.

“This enables Malaysia Airlines and its sister companies, Firefly and MASWings to work closely with participating agents in providing appealing deals and promotions to visitors,” he said.

The fair will be held on March 4-5 at the Boulevard Shopping Mall, Kuching and at Permaisuri Imperial City Mall, Miri.

“To further enhance visitors’ experiences during the fair, MAG will be giving away exciting flight tickets for the Buyers’ Contest,” Choo said.

This year some notable prizes from MAG include flight tickets for KCH-SAIGON; KCH-BANGKOK and KCH-MELBOURNE.

In Miri, the flight ticket prizes will be for the MIRI-BANGKOK and MIRI-PERTH, sectors, he said.

“This is just to name a few. And many other international and domestic flights as well as vouchers amounting to more than RM100,000 up for grabs.

“Besides MAG, other sponsors include Hilton Hotel, Damai Beach Resort, Sematan Palm Beach Resort, KLB Garden, Eastwood Valley Golf Club Miri, Meritz,” he said.

Choo said admission is free to the fair and that it will be open from 10am to 9pm on both days.
