KUCHING: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng has reminded parents or guardians to prioritise the safety of their children whenever they visit the council’s swimming pool.

He also mentioned that visitors must consistently adhere to the rules and regulations of the swimming pool.

“It is crucial to remain vigilant and exercise caution while supervising children during swimming activities and never leave your children unattended at all times,” he said in a statement.

Wee said earlier he had also visited the four-year-old boy who had a near-drowning incident at the MBKS swimming pool three days ago on June 28.

“This morning (June 30), I visited the boy at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), where the child is currently receiving treatment in the paediatric ward.

“The boy was saved and resuscitated by MBKS lifeguard and was promptly admitted to the hospital,” he said.

He also praised the lifeguard for the latter’s quick and decisive action.
