MCC inks MOU with South Tangerang City to foster friendly ties

KUCHING: The city of Miri, through its Miri City Council (MCC), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with South Tangerang City, Banten Province, Republic of Indonesia on Thursday, in order to foster friendly relations and cooperation.
 
The collaboration aims to promote prosperity and enhance public services in the areas of tourism and creative economy, culture and education for both regions.
 
The signing of the MOU took place in Banten Province, Indonesia, with mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang representing MCC and Benyamin Davine representing South Tangerang City.
 
Yii hoped that through the MOU, it would strengthen efforts to facilitate commercial and economic activities including educational, cultural and sports exchange programmes, thereby stimulating the economic growth of Miri City.
 
Miri City has previously established similar collaborations with five other international cities, including Hualian City in Taiwan, WeiHai City in Shandong Province of the People’s Republic of China, La Trinidad City in the Philippines, Gochang District in the Republic of Korea, and Singkawang in the Republic of Indonesia.
 
Furthermore, Miri City is currently in the process of establishing similar relationships with Naning City in Guangxi Province and Zhangzhou City in Fujian Province, both of which are located in China.
