KUCHING: The local community has been encouraged to work with Normah Medical Specialist Centre (NMSC) on community programmes and similar initiatives to ensure the delivery of healthcare services reaches a wider audience.

Its Deputy Head of Corporate Affairs and Business Development, Bidari Mohamad Suhaili, said the private medical centre is open to engaging in programmes organised by various organisations.

He said NMSC would participate in these programmes without any charges for the benefit of the community.

“We can provide knowledge-sharing through health talks, offer free health check-up, blood donation campaign and more through these programmes. This is something that we have been doing for quite some time and it is part of our efforts to address the health needs of the people,” he said.

He made these remarks when met by reporters during the NMSC Open Day on Saturday (Aug 12).

Despite being a private medical centre, Bidari assured that NMSC’s primary objective is to save lives.

“A hospital is still a hospital. We want the public to know that even though this is a private medical facility, we prioritise saving lives in emergency situations. If an accident occurs nearby, and it takes time for the general hospital to reach the location, we are prepared to save the victims first.

“After the victims’ lives are saved, we will discuss whether they want to continue treatment here or elsewhere. We belong to the state government, so whatever we do it is all for the people of this state,” he said.

Pn the Open Day, Bidari said it was held in conjunction with NMSC’s 35th anniversary which fell on Friday (Aug 11).

The event not only commemorated their commitment to medical services and innovations, but also marked a significant occasion as NMSC opened its door to a large-scale event for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic.
