SIBU: The celebration of Malaysia Day at the Saratok District level on Sept 30 is expected to be a festive event with the participation of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM).

Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri stated that several activities involving the national security forces have already been discussed with the Commander of the Ninth Infantry Brigade, Brigadier General Ahmad Norzaini Badrun.

“I had the opportunity to accompany the Saratok branch of the Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Association (PVATM) to Sibu yesterday.

“We discussed various elements related to the events and parade for the Saratok District-level Malaysia Day celebration.

“What’s interesting is that the parade scheduled for Sept 30 will also be joined by the ATM brass band to enhance the festive atmosphere.

“God willing, we hope for the best celebration this year with the solid support of Ahmad Norzaini and his team,” he said.

He made these remarks after accompanying the PVATM Saratok Branch in paying a courtesy call on Ahmad Norzaini here yesterday.

“We are definitely anticipating something significant from them during the upcoming celebration.

“However, I also urge the participation of everyone in Saratok, in particular. This is the time for us to show our love and affection for this blessed land. Indeed, whatever we enjoy today is the result of the sacrifices of those who came before us, and we should appreciate that.

“Our role is simple: to safeguard peace and prosperity and contribute to the development of our sovereign nation,” he said.

During the visit, Mohamad also contributed air-conditioners for the use of the Armed Forces Hospital (RSAT).

The chairman of PVATM Saratok branch, Pemanca Sahari Gani, and committee members were also present.
