MIRI: Miri City Council (MCC) received the Gold Award at the 9th Sarawak Chief Minister’s Environmental Award (CMEA) 2019/2020 ceremony under the Local Authority (City Council) category, owing to its efforts in environmental protection.

Miri City secretary Morshidi Fredrick received the award on behalf of MCC.

Apart from this, AP Mega Jaya Sdn Bhd was champion under the category of Eateries and Food Outlets of Local Authority (City Council).

The awards were presented to the winners during the CMEA presentation ceremony held in Kuching on Monday, with Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg as the guest of honour.

The award presentation ceremony for CMEA 2019/2020 was jointly organised by the Natural Resources and Environment Board Sarawak (NREB) and Sarawak Business Federation (SBF).

The Award is a biannual programme which is organised to recognise the efforts and commitment of local industries, local authorities, and individuals who have demonstrated exemplary stewardship towards environmental protection.
