KAPIT: An elderly man who was reported missing after failing to return home from a frog hunting trip at Sungai Banyau, Nanga Sebala Mujong, here was found safe and unharmed yesterday (Aug 2).

Nyipa Ajong, 68, was found around 2 pm, about 4km from where the victim and his grandson were resting before looking for frogs at Sungai Sengkabang Hilir on Sunday (July 30).

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the victim was in a safe condition without any injuries.

Once the victim was found, he was handed over to Kapit police for further action.

Following that, the search and rescue (SAR) operation ended around 7.40 pm.

Last Sunday (July 30), the victim and his grandson (complainant) went into the forest to hunt for frogs, but the victim went missing while on the way home.

His grandson failed to find his grandfather at that time.

The complainant returned home by road and river, which took three hours to reach their longhouse at Rumah Bangkong, Nanga Sebala Mujong to inform his family before making a missing person’s report.
