LAWAS: The man reported missing in Kampung Tang Sango B on Thursday was found safe by a search team comprising the villagers and firemen from Bomba Lawas, yesterday.

The man identified as Wellin Paulus Parir, 47, was found safe without any bodily injuries in a wooded area about 200 metres from his house.

According to Fire and Rescue Department acting deputy director, Tiong Ling Hii, a search and rescue (SAR) operation was conducted for Wellin within a six-km radius in Kampung Tang Sango B at 8am yesterday.

He added that the SAR team was divided into four groups led by a villager in each group.

According to Tiong, the SAR operation ended at 12 noon after Wellin was found.

The village chief of Tang Sango B, Paulus Parir had lodged a police report after his son Wellin failed to return home last Thursday.

He and several other villagers had tried to look for Wellin on Thursday and Friday but they failed to find him. Paulus then contacted the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) here for help.
