KUCHING: The Mobile Police Station in the form of a van will be fully utilised to provide more efficient and effective services to the public.

This was pointed out by Kuching District Police chief, ACP Abang Ahmad Abang Julai during a press conference at Kuching District Police Headquarters (IPD) here, yesterday.

He noted that instead of operating during big events, the mobile police station can also be located at popular public area such as at Kuching Waterfront or other tourist attraction areas.

“The purpose of the initiative is to assist the existing police stations in service delivery as well as to facilitate the public to deal with the police,” he said.

Initiated in 2010, the public are however still unaware of the existence and uses of the mobile police station.

“From now on, we will fully utilise the mobile service and hope that the public can benefit from the initiative to enhance the public instead of going to a police station during an emergency.
