GEDONG: A model church will be built in Ulu Gedong here for Christians in the area. Entrepreneur and Small and Medium Enterprise Development Assistant Minister Datuk Haji Naroden Majais said the state government would like to provide places of worship for all faiths.
“However, we advise all Christian leaders in Ulu Gedong to discuss and identify the most strategic location for the construction of the church.
Naroden, who is also Gedong state assemblyman, stated this in his speech during the Ulu Gedong new year celebration in Sibau Rumbau, Gendong.
“The government will help to get a piece of land for the construction of the church and I will provide some of my Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) allocations for the project and if it is still insufficient, we will try to find more funds.
“If possible, we will look for a piece of land near the road so that it will be easier for all Christians to visit the model church.
“The Sarawak government is fair to all religions and I’m not only the elected representative for the Malays but also for all races with different religions in Gedong constituency,” he added.
