MIRI: Subis qari (male reciter) Mohd Faizzil Affendi and qariah (female reciter) from Miri, Nurul Izzah Mukhali were crowned as the Miri level Al-Quran recitation champions in their respective categories here on Friday night at Masjid At-Taqwa.
Both took home RM1,200 in cash each as well as a souvenir and a participation certificate.
The runners-up went to Muhammad Izzat Mukhali from Miri and Farra Liza Muhammad Musa also from Miri, who each received RM900 with a souvenir and a participation certificate.
Third place was won by Awang Shamsul Awang Hambali and Nur Shafini Abdul Gani both from Miri and each received RM700, a souvenir and a certificate.
Deputy Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Development I (Women and Childhood Development) Datuk Rosey Yunus presented all the prizes to the winners.
Also present was Miri Division Resident Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusuf.
