KUCHING: Sarawak has reported an outbreak of Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD) for the last six weeks.

Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said the week before the last two weeks, 900 cases were recorded while there were 1,000 cases last week.

“In total, the cases are from 386 clusters such as schools, homes, preschools and kindergartens.”

Dr Sim shared this in a video posted on his Telegram channel today.

The Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government urged the public to continue to observe high levels of hygiene.

“It is important to ensure good hygiene at home and in all these places – schools, kindergartens and so on.

“If you notice rashes and fever (on children), please go to the nearest clinic and please help our healthcare authorities to stop the spread.”
