SARATOK: Federal ministries and agencies have been urged to step up efforts to support the Sarawak government’s efforts to boost rural development.

Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri said rural Sarawak is experiencing rapid changes due to provisions such as the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) and the role played by regional development agencies.

“All villages and longhouses are benefiting from such initiatives, for example in Kampung Kaba here where the Rural Link Road comes from the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development as well as an agricultural development project by the Rubber Smallholder Development Authority.

“Therefore, I hope they (federal government) can channel more funds to support the Sarawak government’s efforts to boost rural development including in this constituency,” he said after inspecting the proposed site for the new multipurpose hall project in Kampung Kaba, yesterday.

On the proposed construction of the multipurpose hall, Mohamad stated that the RM400,000 RTP allocation was approved by the Sarawak government.
