MIRI: Additional flights will be available from Kuala Lumpur to meet the high demand over the Chinese New Year period.

“There will be plenty of flights for those outside Sarawak to come back for the Chinese New Year celebration,” said State Minister of Transport Datuk Sri Lee Kim Shin at the launching of the 19th Chinese New Year Bazaar here on Sunday.

Also present were Miri MP Chiew Choon Man, Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts I Datuk Sebastian Ting, and Miri Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) chairman Ling Chiong Sing.

He said the additional flights have been approved by the Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) recently.

“For example, MAS is offering an additional 23 flights to Kuching from Kuala Lumpur from January 18 to 21, Miri (17 flights), 23 flights to Sibu, and eight to Bintulu, while AirAsia is providing four to five flights a day to Miri from Kuala Lumpur,” he said.
