KUCHING: Registration for the Sarawak Unity Futsal Tournament 2018 is still open to interested teams.
The tournament is limited to 32 teams and interested teams are required to register as soon as possible.
At the moment, the participation is encouraging. More than 23 teams have confirmed their participation. Registration fee is set at RM200 per team.
The futsal tournament is scheduled to take place for two days (July 14 & 15) at Padang Merdeka here in conjunction with the Sarawak Day celebration on July 22.
It is open to players aged 18 and above and each team has to register players of two different races.
The winner will bring home a cash prize of RM3,000 plus a trophy and medals.
The second place winner will receive RM2,500 cash, a trophy and medals, while the third place winner will bring home RM1,500 cash, a trophy and medals. The fourth place winner will receive RM1,000 cash, a trophy and medals.
In order to enliven the competition, the organisers will also organise mini concerts and penalty leagues.
Local Government and Housing Minister, Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian is expected to officiate the opening ceremony on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to close the tournament on Sunday.
