KUCHING: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has been invited to attend the “Raya Gawai Rakyat Bersatu 2019” open house at Medan Niaga Satok here on June 30.
More than 5,000 people are expected to attend the open house programme which will be held from 9am until 3pm to celebrate the festive seasons of Gawai and Hari Raya.
Organising chairman Affendi Jeman told reporters yesterday the event was initiated by non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the people in the hope that the federal and state governments could come together to celebrate the festivals.
“We, the people of Sarawak, would like to extend our invitation to our Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir as we hope we can celebrate this festive season together with him.
“We would also like to invite both the federal and state government leaders together to attend the event organised by the people for the people,” he said.
Jeman, who is Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) Sarawak branch chief, said they were collaborating with Fama on the venue for the event.
