MoU on division’s environmental protection

MIRI: Miri Resident’s Office recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Miri Second-hand and Recycling Traders Association to carry out projects related to environmental protection in this division.

The MoU was signed by Miri Resident Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusuf , while Miri Second-hand and Recycling Association was represented by its Chairman Bryan Chia Sak Chan during the event on Monday.

Through the MoU, the Miri Division Resident’s Office will continue to be involved in the EcoBrick Project which aims to educate local people about the issue of single-plastic use, especially ‘soft plastic’ which causes beach pollution.

 In addition, the signing of the MoU also focusing on efforts to create a sustainable and green environment and build new landmarks and tourist spots in Miri.

According to Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) news reports, prior to the MoU, Miri Division Resident’s Office with Subis, Telang Usan, Beluru and Miri District Offices have successfully completed the project by collecting a total of 573 EcoBrick bottles.

Meanwhile, the number of EcoBrick bottles that have been collected by the Miri Second-hand and Recycling Dealers Association is recorded as 11,464 bottles thus far.
