ASAJAYA: The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED) welcomes efforts to revive the Rakan Muda programme which is expected to be launched this year.

Its minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said, it is a very good proposal to be implemented again, especially involving the country’s youth.

“Thus, I believe Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh will look in depth at what is lacking and what needs to be improved so that the Rakam Muda programme can be revived properly,” he said.

He said this after the distribution of bubur lambuk in Jalan Asajaya in conjunction with the 1444H Ramadan Tour Programme of the Religious Bureau of the Malaysian Drug Prevention Association (PEMADAM) Sarawak at Masjid An-Najah Asajaya, on Saturday (April 8).

Hannah had previously informed that the Rakan Muda programme, which is expected to be launched again this year, would be one of the main programmes of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS).

Abdul Karim said it would be empowered through various forms of improvement in efforts to have a more comprehensive and positive impact on the youth, adding that this matter was in the final stages of research.

In addition, the Rakan Muda programme is also a programme to foster interest, polish talent and highlight personal potential involving youth, aged 15 to 25, that was introduced by the government in 1994.

In a related matter, Abdul Karim who is also Asajaya assemblyman, informed that it was a good enough programme and it was appropriate to revive it.

“It is also a KBS programme that is very close to the youth,” he said.
