SIBU: To help ease the burden of the rising cost of living in Sibu, the petrol subsidy programme has been introduced.

Sibu MP Oscar Ling Chai Yew said that distributing RM5 petrol rebate vouchers will provide some relief to the people.

Ling helps pump petrol for a motorcyclist.

“We are concerned about the welfare of the people amidst the increasing living costs,” said Ling during the petrol subsidy programme held from 2 pm to 4.30 pm at Grolite Petrol Shell Station, Jalan Ling Kai Cheng here today (July 21).

He said the good news is that there is no minimum refueling limit for motorcyclists to receive the RM5 petrol rebate voucher.

However, car owners need to fill up with at least RM30 of petrol to qualify for the RM5 on-the-spot rebate.

Apart from the petrol subsidy, his service centre also offers subsidy programmes for essential goods and cooking gas.

According to Ling, these initiatives have received an excellent response from the residents of Sibu.

“I am glad to see that our subsidy programmes have been well-received by the Sibu community. These programs allow me to get closer to the people and understand the hardships they are facing,” he added.
