MUKAH:  Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg on Monday night announced some major plans for Sarawak would be incorporated in the 12th Malaysia Plan 2021-2025 (MP12:2021-2025).

He said the plans basically covered developments in agriculture, tourism, service, infrastructure, education and digital economy.

According to him, agricultural development will be based on a new model together with the necessary infrastructure.

Abang Johari said both tourism development and services would be given more emphasis in the next plan.

“For infrastructure development, the government will continue to build roads and bridges and provide clean water supply.

“Educational development will emphasise on training which is important in MP12,” he said during the Leader with the People event at Dewan Suarah Mesra here.

He added digital economy would be further enhanced while the 5G technology through satellite was being considered for faster Internet service.

“We want Sarawak to be the most progressive state in Malaysia by 2030 and that is why we embrace digital economy,” Abang Johari said, adding that he and his cabinet members were working for the people.

He stressed that racial unity was important to facilitate further development in Sarawak.

The chief minister also said all state projects were progressing smoothly and Mukah Division needed further development under MP12.

At the event, he also approved the proposed extension of Dewan Suarah Mesra at a cost of RM5 million.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, other ministers, assistant ministers, State Secretary Datuk Jaul Samion, Mukah MP Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib, Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi, political secretaries to the chief ministers, heads of departments and agencies and community leaders also attended the event.
