MUKAH: MARA Junior Science College of Mukah (MRSM Mukah) was the top MRSM in Sarawak in the 2016 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM).
Disclosing this last Saturday, its principal Haji Maznan Maamor said MRSM Mukah scored better that its counterparts in Betong and Kuching.
“With the Average Grade (GPM) of 2.699, MRSM Mukah is top MRSM in Sarawak despite being the youngest among the three in the state. We hope to maintain and improve our achievement from time to time,” he said.
He pointed that out of the 48 MRSMs in the nation, MRSM Mukah was in 25th position after producing 12 straight As students in SPM examination.
Maznan stated this in his speech at MRSM Mukah’s Excellence Award Day and Appreciation Event held at the college’s hall.
He also revealed that in the PT3 examination last year, MRSM Mukah had two students scoring 10As, 10 others ( 9As), eight 8As) and 24 (7As).
He said besides academic performances, the college had always finished top three in co-curricular activities, especially in competitions among MRSMs.
Meanwhile, the occasion also saw the presentation of certificates of appreciation to Mukah District Hospital, Mukah Fire and Rescue Department, the police, Civil Defence Department, Mukah District Education Office, Mukah Resident Office, Taekwondo Association Mukah, Silat Association Mukah, Youth Camp Mukah and Mukah Division Works Department.
Also present were Mukah Divisional Health Officer Dr Osman Haji Rafie, Parent-Teacher Association chairperson Nolin Gendang, MRSM Mukah deputy principal (Academic Affairs) Affandi Rumpa, school principals and headmasters.
