Mujah elected Senator

A political secretary to the Premier, Michael Mujah Lihan was elected as a new Senator representing Sarawak.

The motion to nominate the new Senator was moved by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and seconded by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan during the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting on Tuesday.

Mujah replaces Datuk Dr Nuing Jeluing whose term of service ends on December 10.

Mujah, 61, was born in Belaga, on October 6, 1962. 

He has extensive experience in administration and politics. He is a graduate of Diploma in Public Administration, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

He has served as political secretary to Premier from 2016 until now. He was Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Belaga Branch chief from 2009 to 2016 and has been the branch chief from 2016 until now.

In addition, he was a member of the PBB Supreme Council from 2010 until 2022. He is also active in various non-governmental organisations including holding positions as executive committee member, Federation of Orang Ulu Malaysia (FORUM) and deputy president of Orang Ulu National Association.

Meanwhile, when met by reporters, Mujah said he was very happy and thankful with the appointment by the Sarawak government especially Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

“I will work hard in my new post. 

“Thanks a lot to the government for giving me the trust to be a Senator,” he said.
