Mukah MP presents BR1M to 1,602 individuals

DALAT: 1,062 peoples from all walks of life from the area received the 1Malaysia Peoples’ Assistance (BRIM) vouchers yesterday morning.

Mukah Member of Parliament, Tan Sri Dr Muhammad Leo Toyad launched the presentation ceremony which was held at the main hall of Stadium Perpaduan, here.

Also seen at the function were Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Haji Kenil Haji Jaraie, Mukah Deputy Resident, Abdul Halim Abdullah, Dalat District Officer, Kueh Lei Poh, Dalat District Police Chief DSP Roslan Bin Leman, Temenggong Haji Hendi Suhai and Pemanca Albert Kiruh Abau.

Touching on the BRIM which was initiated by BN government, he said, it was the best approach to alleviate the burden of the low income group compared to general subsidy done before.

“This BRIM has achieved and benefited this targeted group but with the general subsidy practiced before the rich were also benefited from it. And that’s why nowadays, those who opposes BRIM were this rich group because they are not eligible for BRIM anymore,” he said.

On the prime ministers of Malaysia, he had a special admiration for the current Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak who walked the talk by focusing on his motto of Peoples’ First.

“I’ve been under three prime ministers, and to me our existing Prime Minister is really concerned about the wellbeing of the Rakyat by coming up with various initiatives for the benefit of the peoples to alleviate their burden especially during the uncertain global economy like now. And at the same time he managed to unexpectedly maintained our GNP at certain level which wows other nations, too,” he added.

At the event he presented the assistance to 12 recipients, while, the rest received it through the counters opened at the venue.
