The number of cars in town has increased following the new ruling.

MUKAH: The government’s decision in allowing four family members of the same household to travel in a vehicle during the movement control order (MCO) with immediate effect on Monday has seen a surge in the number of cars in town yesterday.

A check by New Sarawak Tribune yesterday found that from 9am until noon, car parking bays at many shopping centres was almost full.

There were many cars on the move, too.

Before yesterday, the town was relatively quiet and it was much easier to find empty parking spaces.

The green zone status of this district and the new ruling introduced by the government have contributed to the ‘back to business’ scenario yesterday, and perhaps in the days to come.

The ruling to allow four family members of the same family to travel in a vehicle during the conditional movement control order (CMCO) was announced by Senior Minster (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob last Sunday. While Sarawak agrees to the four-per-car ruling, it is not following the federal government in implementing the CMCO.
