MUKAH: My Team football club met the pre-tournament billing when they emerged the champions of the MuFA 9 a-side football competition organised by Mukah Division Football Association (MuFA) on Sunday.
They clinched the title after defeating FT Banqku 2-0, through penalty shootout after they were drawm scoreless at full time of the final held at Padang Mesra MDDM(Dalat/Mukah District Council), here.
With the win, the team of youngsters managed and guided by Royston Valentine and Jamal Wasli, received RM1,000, the championship cup and medals.
Runners-up, Banqku pocketed RM700, cup and medals while PMS A finished third spot to win RM500, cup and medals, after they beat Selangau FC 2-0, in the 3rd/4th placing play-off earlier.
Mentari Mahawangsa Sdn Bhd manager, Dato Syamsul Azam Mohamad, the main sponsor gave away the prizes.
Twenty-four teams from Kuching, Sibu and Mukah took part in the competition heald on Saturday and Sunday.
MuFA president Sgt Ajhar Bakar, exco members of the association, coaches and managers of the participating teams were present at the final among the 300-odd fans.
