KUCHING: The Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development (KPWK) Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah today received a courtesy call from Malaysian Social Welfare (KPKM).

The purpose of the visit at Baitulmakmur building today was to inform Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah regarding the newly elected Director General Datuk Shaharuddin Abu Sohot and in addition to exchanging views on welfare issues and the management of JKM service delivery in Sarawak.

Objectives that were discussed were to strengthen good relations and cooperation as well as discussing short and long term issues followed by programmes in cooperation between both parties.

Among the objectives that were discussed were the proposal of construction for Taman Sinar Harapan Sarawak, the establishment of a Children’s Home in Miri, and application for two Disaster Storage Depots in Sibu and Miri.

The delegation was also joined by six senior officials from the JKM headquarters and also present were Deputy Minister for Women and Childhood Development Datuk Rosey Yunus; Deputy Minister for Community Wellbeing Development Mohammad Razi Sitam; KPWK Permanent Secretary Datuk Dr Rashidah Bolhassan; Director of the Sarawak Social Welfare Department (JKMS) Noriah Ahmad and JKMS management.
