MUKAH: The new RM302.4 million Mukah Airport is 90 percent completed in January this year.

The airport is undergoing its final maintenance work and is currently waiting for instructions from the authorities to begin operations.

Tellian assemblyman Yussibnosh Balo said works have been disrupted for five months due to the movement control order (MCO).

“It is going on smoothly now and the airport will start operating soon,” he told Suara Sarawak on Sunday (May 9), adding that this is a major development for Mukah.

He said it will also be an important nexus in the industry that is growing rapidly in Mukah and its surroundings.

The airport will be able to land ATR-type aircraft compared to only Twin Otter for the old airport.
