New projects bring smiles to villagers

DALAT: Villagers of Kampung Kekan here were all smiles when their local representative approved another four more rural development projects worth RM131,000.

Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah handed over the approved letters to representatives of the villages during her Ziarah Kampung (Village Visit) programme at a community hall in Kampung Kekan here on Friday (Aug 21).

The projects involved are upgrading of Kampung Kekan multipurpose hall (RM50,000); concrete road construction at Kampung Tegup, Kekan (RM20,000); upgrading of a road to a jetty at Kampung Kekan (RM25,000) and extension of waterfront to prevent river erosion at Kampung Kekan Seberang (rural transformation programme costing RM36,000).

Fatimah who is Dalat assemblywoman also handed over a minor rural project (MRP) cheque worth RM18,000 for the construction of two roofed-jetties at Sungai Kut estuary in Kampung Kekan Seberang.

She then continued her Ziarah Kampung  programme to the nearby Kampung Medong about three hours later.

Recently she went to Kampung Senau and Kampung Terus in Oya for the same programme.
