All flood evacuees in Sarawak return home

KUCHING: All the flood evacuees in Sarawak have returned to their homes. The two relief centres in the Lundu District, which had accommodated 74 evacuees from 18 families, were closed at 3 pm after the floodwaters in their villages receded.

The evacuees had been housed at the Kampung Paon community hall and Sekolah Kebangsaan Sebat in Sematan, according to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee secretariat.

An hour earlier, at 2 pm, the relief centres at Dewan Sinaran of Kampung Sungai Lumut and Surau Ar Rahman in the Kuching District were closed after the 59 evacuees from 14 families returned to their homes. – Bernama
